The Ides of March.. R.I.P. Dr.Rao

31/03/13 6:45pm

This week's a long weekend, being Easter weekend, one of my favourite holidays of the year as we get Friday and Monday off:)
Fiji 7s team's performance at Tokyo today with the USA was very concerning disappointing...     I can tell that the absence of Ilai Tinai probably had to do with the loss... not to mention Osea Kolinisau didn't show up in the quarter final with the USA... moving on... I would like to see some consistency in winnings in order to put my money on the World Cup in Moscow.. no Roman Candles today...

I found lots of valuable stuff yesterday on InfoSec... pretty exciting!
I made friends with this guy who shall remain nameless and who's shared with me some insights into key business concepts, not that it's uncommon, but the info he provided was what I had been looking for the past 2 weeks - so its pretty cool.
I've completed 3 info-sec policies that I'll route for review and hopefully get it approved within the week.

By the way, have you ever wondered if there's a way where you can just remember one password that is really secure with strong encryption for all your 100 or so login credentials? Well, let me recommend to you LastPass, it's free, it's got multiple platforms, it's secure, it's safe, it's easier, did I say it's free..? I've been using it for over 12-months now and I have been at peace... :) believe me, I can be very sceptical on assurances but this one here has me grinning with envy.. Steve Gibson did an excellent in-depth review of every LastPass feature on his Security Now! podcast. I recommend giving it a listen: http://www.grc.com/securitynow.htm
Scroll down to Episode #256 (or simply search the page for LastPass). Skip to about 50min in.

Yesterday I received from  my colleague,  the tragic news of our dear colleague from Yalamanchili International, (Dr.Ramamohanarao Surapaneni) commonly known as Dr.Rao, had passed away whilst holidaying in the West with his other colleagues from India... post mortem will be done first to determine the cause of death before he's escorted back to India..I'm sure those that have come to know him during his short stay would agree that he was a goodly man... always smiling. Well, the Lord giveth and He taketh away... R.I.P old friend. (what a sad way to end the month...)

Tides of March

25/03/2013 12:30am
Cheers rang out into the night from every rugby following household in the middle of the Fijian night as the Fiji 7s team slayed the Dragon in a mesmerising, breath-taking, superb and brilliant performance at the So Kon Po stadium in Hong Kong. Facebook status swiftly updated and flooded with likes and congratulations from all following friends in all corners of the globe!
Nothing to boast about, but I'm pretty sure I was the first one to let loose the Roman Candles that ripped the midnight sky after the coconuts bamboozled the Red Dragon... I was already holding the match-stick ready to strike it alight when only 1minute 37 seconds remaining... and as soon as the referee blew the whistle,  my backyard begun echoing 6 whistling booms into the sky.. the next firework booms came around a minute later... from Tamavua, Cunningham, Namadi, Princess Road etc.. and then followed by a slight pour of rain for a minute.. :) which didnt stop the Roman Candles being lit in celebration from near and far my place.
What a splendid way to commemorate Waisale's Serevi's induction into the IRB Hall of Fame, and also the arrival of Fiji's first ever Airbus A330.
What's next? A higher salary job?
Anyways, today I started reading through the ISO27002:2005 in preparation of the Implementation of the ISO 27k accreditation for our Data Center, the first of its kind in the country and possibly among the small Pacific island countries. Been doing lots of readings and boy have we got alot of work ahead!
